Huntsville Probate Attorney

At my law firm, D. Milburn Gross, Jr. Attorney at Law, one of my main areas of focus is helping families with the probating of a will or administering the estate after a loved one's death. At my office in Meridianville, Alabama, I represent grieving clients from all over North Alabama.

Probating The Estate Of A Loved One In Alabama

I can help you through the confusing probate process if you have recently suffered the loss of a loved one. Probate is the legal process for administering an estate after death. The probate court will determine if a valid will exists and then appoint a personal representative or administrator. After the personal representative — usually a friend or relative of the deceased — is appointed, I can guide him or her through the process.

If you are the administrator, I can file the necessary paperwork with the probate court on your behalf. Although contesting a will is a rare occurrence, it does occur when there are disagreements between the heirs of the estate. I have successfully represented people on both sides of will disputes.

In addition to administering an estate, I can help you work with the probate court to establish guardianships or conservatorships when a loved one is no longer in a position to make financial or health care decisions. The probate court also handles mental commitments for someone who is mentally ill and is a danger to others.

Compassionate Approach To Client Consultation

As your attorney, I will ask you to bring in all the relevant documents, including the will, to understand what services may be required. You will understand what will happen and how long the process typically takes. Probate may be a long process, but you can be assured that you are working with an experienced probate lawyer who understands what a trying time this is for you.
